Hi,

I’d like to inquire if there are records associated with my family who
resided in the Omagh and Altamuskin area. If there is a different way to go
about this, please let me know.

Rose Ann (Annie) McKenna was born in Omagh on September 1, 1886, in County
Tyrone. Her parents were Bridget (Biddy) ODonnelly, and Arthur McKenna.

She is reported to have married John Joseph Conroy in Eskragh, Tyrone on
August 25, 1907, or possibly 1905. She immigrated to the US in 1905 or 1907
according to census records in the US.

Arthur McKenna was born in 1846.

Bridget was born in 1851. She may have been born in Kilnageer.

They both remained in Ireland until their deaths.

John Joseph Conroy was born in 1876, to Joannis and Matilda Donaghy on
January 11, 1876 in Tyrone.

Joannis and Matilda Donaghy appear to have remained in Ireland until their
deaths. Joann is may have resided in Seskinore according to the 1901
census. Joannis may have passed away in July of 1902. Matilda may have
passed away in Magherafelt, Londonderry on March 18, 1891.

I’d like to know if there are birth, baptism, marriage, or death records
for any of the people outlined above that I might be able to access or see.
I am also interested in any records about their travel to America. John is
reported to have come to New York when he was 14, made his way to Oakland,
CA and started a business. He returned to Ireland and met and married
Annie. I have not been able to locate these records, though the dates I
have were provided by older family.

In addition, I would like to visit the cemeteries where those that remained
in Ireland are buried if possible this July when we visit Ireland if anyone
can point me in the right direction for the correct cemetery. I also
wondered if the church that they would have attended is still in existence
today to possibly see and visit it while we are there. I see some
businesses near the area that are run by McKenna’s and I do wonder if they
are distant relatives.

Does anyone know of a group like this for County Longford or County Cork?

Please let me know if you have any questions or need any further
information. Thank you for any help you might be able to offer.

Annie Kurtz
