We had a brick wall with her Great Grandfather James Young Henry with the only clue being that he was born in Plumbridge about 1830. I’ve been unable to find his baptism records or marriage record for his parents. However after DNA testing mum, looking at naming patterns, trawling through this great site and others, our Henry/Young tree is ever growing with other names added like Ballantine, McFarland, Knox, Anderson to name a few! It’s great to be able to verify an hypothesis with DNA matches, even though they may be small. Endogamy seemed to be rife in the 1800’s. Shows how important it is to DNA test your eldest relatives too.
