Len what you do is fantastic -- please keep it up (within your personal
limits, of course - you have to have a life!)

I hope for the day when something pops up that unblocks some of my walls.

Meantime they are great reads and reflections of the times.. Colour expressive
language, and the social customs of the day broadens the mind !

Sentinel November 21 1856

Thanks Dave!
Pleased you like it and thanks for your sentiments; it is a rare day indeed
that I receive a response to any of my postings.

In the period prior to the introduction of civil registration, newspaper
announcements of birth, deaths and marriages are important and often provide
information that a registration certificate does not.

I would be pleased to hear from CTI listers who find these posts interesting
and useful. Should I continue?

All the best,
Len

Sentinel November 21 1856

Thanks Len, I always read these -- and today I learned two things
  1. the meaning of instant vs. ultimo (current month vs. prior -- had to look
it up!)
  2. folks could make some stunning choices over religion
(Rita Gomez, a Portuguese Protestant... The Roman Catholic authorities
refusing permission for interment, the body was thrown into the sea).

Appreciate all you do!

Dave
