I think the first thing to do is nail down exactly where the leak is. It could be anywhere around the gasket for the mounting to the case or it could be from around the pinion shaft (or whatever it is called!) which gets pushed in to engage the starter. Or does your Mooney have one of those? I've only worked on my 415 CD and it has a seal around the pinion shaft. I guess I'm really not that much help, am I? Wayne N3544H.
