Dennis, I just put a new Concorde RG-35A ($120. from Aircraft Spruce including shipping)
This battery is a PMA replacement for the standard battery but is sealed so does not need water and cannot leak. It uses a fibreglas mat to hold the electrolyte. I did have to put a flat piece of plastic accross the top of the battery box as this battery is a bit shorter than the normal battery. Any battery that is not PMA approved would require a field approval. Also my coupe is placarded for additional weight (20lbs) if the battery is removed so if you use something too light you will need to check the W&B. With the new battery the engine turns over very fast. There is an XC (extra capacity) version of the RG-35A but it weighs 4 lbs more and I do not see why I would need it based on how fast the engine turns over now.
