Maynard; Page 40 of the Ercoupe service manual states: "fill the strut in the extended position to the red mark on the dip stick. It should take 1 and 1/2 pints when empty (after a rebuild). In the static position fill the strut to the green mark." I assume that the red mark is the one 11 inches from the top of the plug and the green mark is the one 6 inches from the top of the plug. Some models do not have the dip stick, so I just make sure they are full up to 6 inches from the top. Good Luck.
