N 87400-- 415c ser# 573 72x48 beautiful Flotorp wood prop. c75/85
tapered shaft.

Little high on base leg, closed the throttle and things got quiet. Stuck
the
nose down and turned in. After three requests the Lord said OK and we
sailed
just over the fence! The wheels touched the first 6 feet of pavement and
we
rolled out ond off.

After getting the nose down I realized there was nothing going around on
the
nose! The whole assembly, spinner and hub and prop departed the plane.

Twelve people watched this event and the landing. One friend in his J3
spotted the prop in a pasture and another on foot retreived it. We had the
prop
back in twenty minutes ! Not even a grass stain! Located another hub, had
it
zyglowed, checked the shaft runout, it was fine and I've flown the prop
more
than 100 hours since.

At Prescott Continental pres. said " We've had several like that, next
question
please?"
