Went flying this weekend and had my airspeed indicator sitting on "0" as =
I was on my takeoff roll. I borted and taxied back to the ramp.
I gently blew on the pitot tube and then noticed the needle stuck on 60. =
Now comes the stupid part (I think).. I sucked on the tube and then the =
needle went (back) to 180. I then unscewed the air lines and gently =
blew back to the pitot. After reinstalling the air lines I fired her up =
and taxied to the runway. On a fast taxi the needle would move as =
expected starting from 180 and moving past zero. So I went ahead and =
flew her a couple of hours.
Upon shutting down the needle was back to 180. I examined the back of =
the instrument and do not see any kind of "set screw" to get the needle =
back to zero.
Is there anything I can do myself to reset this or do I need to get it =
to an A&P?
What are the proper procedures to follow in the future when an airpeed =
indicator appears to be "stuck"? I propably will invest in a pitot tube =
cover as foreign matter must have been blown in by the 60mph winds the =
days previous as she sat on the ramp.
As usual, any information is GREATLY appreciated.
