Lynn,

Sorry I missed you folks at Sun& Fun...I was looking forward to meeting
and
talking Coupes.

As to quitting engines: I know of one instance where after overhaul, the
fuel
lines were replaced from the firewall to the carb, and the fuel line
Inside
Diameter was a size too small.... 1/4 vs 5/16 ??? Don't remember the
proper
size....or the size used. But it would stretch over the fittings, so the
mechanic felt it was OK. On take off, the coupe climbed about 300 feet,
then
the engine slowed to about 1600RPM , loss of power. At that RPM, the
coupe
was able to slowly fly the pattern and land safely.

Ground run up was OK; but extended wide open throttle soon caused a slow
down...

Seems the smaller ID of the fuel line was insufficient to allow gravity
fuel
flow of the capacity needed for full power.

First thought was that installation of the fuel line displaced a flap of
material inside the line, partially obstructing flow. No problem was
found.

Proper fuel line ID size fixed it.
