I push the trottle in smoothly and slowly but not that slowly - same as a
C150.  Sounds like something is not adjusted right.

Yes, I kill my engine by pulling mixture out and pushing in throttle.
Even
that does not always work if it is too warm, then I kill the engine with
the
mag switch.  I also turn off the header tank valve because my needle
started
leaking after carb rebuild so the engine is shure to shut off from
something<g>.
