Hello All: Is anyone getting away with using any other muffler clamp then the "official" $60.00 item from Univair?
I have to tighten mine up every 3-4 hours of flight. 09H was using automotive type clamps which had passed by the AI who did the annual. I never had to tighten or mess with those clamps. I wonder if I can get away with using the automotive type clamp? I recently pulled a lower plug to check if I was getting any lead fouling from the 100LL I've been using. The plug was marked EM 12E. I would have expected REM 40Es in the 0-200. I cannot find EM 12Es listed. Can anyone cross reference this plug? The plug read just fine so I would expect it to be close to a REM 40E in heat range.
