I have been rebuilding my nose strut and have had feedback from the group on the steering colar and sleeve play. I found some good parts to replace my old ones and cleaned everything up and put it on the aircraft. this morning I had the tail up with the Idea of putting the fluid in and noticed the amount of play of the lower leg seemed excessive. I can move it about 1/8 inch or so. in any direction. Is this normal or should I take it apart again and start all over. I figure I can iether replace the brass bushing on the upper leg(tube) or maybe have the lower leg brought up to proper size by chromeing or something. Any thoughts?
