Smitty; Since you have a new windshield, I am assuming that you have a new
rubber seal for the bottom, and "sticky" windshield tape for the top. I
would
test fit the windshield with the rubber taped in place. Once you get the
position of the rubber located, mark it on the Coupe so that you can use
adhesive (if you desire) to hold it in place. The steel strap, that holds
the
windshield in place at the top, does not reach all the way to the side
window
ledges (angles). That way, when you tighten the bolts, it can move
downward
to hold the windshield in place. If you desire a neater installation, you
can
cut two small rubber blocks to go between the steel strap and the window
ledges. You need to do this during the trial installation, in order to get
the right size.
When you have everything in place, you need to mark the hole positions on
the
side window angles, so you can drill them after you remove the strap.
Once you have everything laid out, drill the holes, and again test fit it
all
together to make sure that the rubber blocks (if you used any) are the
correct size. Be careful about over tightening these bolts. That is why
you
need the "sticky" window tape which holds the windshield in place, but
allows
it to move when heating and cooling.
If you are satisfied with the fit, glue the rubber to the bottom of the
windshield and let dry before installing the windshield. 3M black
weather-strip adhesive works good for this. When it is dry, and you are
ready
to install it for the final time, put a small bead of the weather-strip
adhesive along the area you marked on the aircraft, put the sticky tape on
the top (two layers are better than one) and set the windshield in place.
Put
the strap over the top, and tighten the bolts to hold it all together.
Good Luck

PS a caution about the weather-strip adhesive. In order to keep from
getting
it all over everything, I put masking tape on both sides of the area where
you are going to put the adhesive. I do the same thing on the
window/windshield. Then after you have put it together, but before the
adhesive sets up, you can pull the masking tape off and leave a neat,
clean
installation.
