I have a project Coupe that looks to be
in outstanding condition airframe-wise and
engine seems in good shape though we haven't
gone into it.   Bought in late June, with plan for
my son (A&P) to put it into shape.   So far, he's
gotten wings stripped (minor surface corrosion),
and I got bored and bought a Coupe to fly.   We
stripped the wings just because we didn't have
a history on it.   It sat in a barn in South Texas for
?4 years, "not airworthy" but apparently being
flown.   I bought from a fellow who bought with the
intention of making it into a mounted sign, but
didn't have the heart because it was in such good
condition (no obvious damage, and I got the entire
microfiche history from FAA, printed it out too), and
the engine ran smoother every time he exercised it.
It's located in Conroe Texas (Montgomery County),
hangared -- 35 miles northwest of Houston.   Easy
to truck on a "flatbed towtruck" or trailer, since we
moved it 60 miles in less than 2 hours, including loading.
It's a 1947 415D with C85-12 -- compressions not checked
but "felt equal" with exhaust puffs and felt equal with
prop pull through before I bought it.   Clean Sensenich prop,
7446.  Gear, etc., look in fairly good shape, single fork
nose gear.    Skin is all aluminum, polishes up great, very clean.
New plexi but not installed.
Basic ?original instruments.    Clean, just needs some loving
care and refurbishing.   According to local FSDO folks, no
problem getting it recerted as airworthy so long as AI signs
off all the reconditioning, complies with all ADs.
Only partial logs available, so all has to be checked and
signed as/if done.   Hobbs suggests 3200 hrs, if correct.
Asking $7200 but I'm negotiable if someone's really interested
in buying this fall.   And I'd sure like to see it go to someone
who loves Coupes, because this one looks in basically good
condition.   Feel free to share info with others, if you're not
interested.   I'm about to list in Trade a Plane, auctions, etc.
