I guess I would have to say that if you are willing to put $17,000 into an airplane you should be able to get one in flying condition in fairly good shape. While not "like new" you would be able to upgrade the plane one item at a time while still flying it rather than spending a long time and money at once before you take your first flight. I bought the Astrocoupe in 1990 for about $10K. It flew but over the last decade I have invested much more in upgrades and repairs. The advantage is I have had an airplane to fly for the period. I have added cleveland brakes, new avionics, paint, etc. FWIW I bought a second coupe disassembled with new or yellow tagged jugs, good wings (uncovered), yellow tagged crankshaft for $4000 about three years ago. You can see it on my web site. I have not done anything with it so far (except steal parts for the Astrocoupe) but it should at least give you a ballpark. You have to decide if you want to fly or build. If you want to fly your budget should get you a reasonable flying machine. It is possible that the seller would consider $5000 and transport the plane (about 25 miles) to my shop. 2. Is $12,000 a reasonable estimate to restore the plane to "like new" condition with minimal instrumentation, assuming I do much of the work myself? --------------------------------- to unsubscribe send mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ____________________________________________________________ T O P I C A -- Learn More.
