Rick; Did you test the repair job before you put it back on the Coupe? The test procedure states that you should first apply 0.4 psi fuel pressure for at least 15 minutes, followed by 0.6 psi for at least 5 minutes after the fuel level has stablized. It sounds like your float valve is not seating properly. You do not need a test bench to do the testing, just about 3 feet of hose connected to the header tank on the Coupe will work. You will also need to obtain a fitting to put in the drain plug hole, which you can attach a clear plastic tube to. By placing the carburetor about 30 inches below the level of the fuel in the tank, you will have approximately 0.4 psi. You will need to lower carburetor about an additional 18 inches to obtain the 0.6 psi. However, if you fix up the clear plastic tube on the drain plug opening, while the carburetor is still installed, you should be able to determine if the float valve is leaking by holding the clear tube up along the carburetor. If the fuel level in the tube rises to the level of the parting surface of the carburetor top and bottom castings, you definitely have a leaking float valve problem. The test instructions say to replace the valve. DO NOT CHANGE THE FLOAT SETTING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. Good luck.
