Hello,I have a coupe and fly about 175 hrs a year for the last 7 years.I find that the coupe is one of the best aircraft going. The canards are the second.Only a fool would buy an airplane that was unstable or uncordinated in flight. But this seems to be the norm because people accept it as normal so there is no incentive to change the mainstream. We all know but will not admit that flying is a lot easier than driving a car with some idiot 2 feet from you at 60 mph.Mr.Collins most likely meant that the coupe has a bad safety record when it comes to landing, which it does. But this is not the planes fault,It is the pilot. When the coupe is flown too slowly,it sinks quite rapidly and must be anticipated.A lot of pilots in the past just tried to fly them down to stall speed and dropped them in.The same thing happens to canard aircraft.Just ask any insurance agent. with proper training the coupe is the best thing going for a pilot that does not want to do tricks in the air. Please feel free to use this any way that you chose to, Jim in Ct.
