Hi to all Ercoupe Pilots on the List(s). Reading all the responses about the safety or un-safety of Ercoupes and / or other older planes, I was in hope that someone would ask our Mr. Truth Teller what his facts actually are. I agree with Tom Laird-McConnell that discussing this subject does not belong to a separate List, nor to the sales section of the Ercoupers site ( although I see the intention on 'warning ' buyers) or elsewhere but it belongs here, to the Coupers-Tech list. But back to my initial thought - what are the facts proofing that Ercoupes 'keep falling out of the sky'? At which rate do they do that ? In which country? Before I bought my coupe I searched the NTSB Database for fatal and non fatal accidents in Ercoupes. Outcome was that most accidents happened due to poor flight planning, loosing engine power, especially running out of gas as a mayor contributor and scud running. I would call that pilot errors and can not see any connection with the quality of the airframes. These are the facts known to me. What facts can Mr. Truth Teller tell us ?? I am curious.
