HI Darwin.

It seems to me that there is no other way than converting the your Coupe
to
a D or later model with all the bells to get into the 1400# gross weight.
The type certificate of the C model just lists the option to have a 85 hp
engine, without raising the gross weight.
If you have a C, I would just go with the bigger engine. That way you can
keep the elevator limits as they are and do not have to cover the fuselage
with stainless steel.
It is all a matter of which type certificate you want your coupe run
under.
There are only 2.
One for the model C and one for all other models.
