Recently, I went on some longer flights with a friend in his Ercoupe (1946 modified to 415D in 1963). He discovered that the wing tanks would only give about 12-13 gallons usable fuel. We believe the capacity is 18 gallons. Several questions: 1. Is the wing tank capacity 18 Gallons? 2. Is the fuel pick-up in only one wing tank with some cross flow equalization of fuel between tanks?
