Bryce: The Coupe control shafts are 7/8" in diameter. Converting to the
Yoke
style from the Coupe wheel will cost you about 4 inches of room between
your
anatomy and the control yoke. Aircraft Spruce (ACS) has replacement
control
wheel (Yoke) for the Navion that has been FAA approved. The yoke has a
cavity
to put in a switch. I believe the P/N is A-1300-1, and they cost about
$150
each. I would ensure talking to your mechanic, or whoever is going to do
the
work and make sure you can get FAA approval before you start.
I put the Navion style yokes in an Alon, and did not have any
problem
once I showed the FAA inspector the PMA stamp on the control yoke. He
readily
approved the modification.
