Bob: The cost to replace the Belleville Springs is about $350 if you
purchase the springs separately rather than buy the kit. Univair charges
about $200 to package 14 springs and 4 spacers in a kit.
As I recall, the tail sagged on my 1945 Coupe within a month of
putting
new doughnuts on. The only way I know to tell if they are bad is to
measure
the height against a new one. I do recall Jon stating something about
being
able to make them function better by making a modification, but I do not
remember what it was.
I recommend you decide whether you want the Springs or the doughnuts,
get
the parts, including the spacers, and then only take it apart once and
replace everything at the same time.
