Issue nineteen (recent - don't know what it means in months) of Classic Wings Down Under has a photo essay on aircraft of Lord Howe Island, which is between Australia and New Zealand. Included is a black & white photo of an Ercoupe captioned "The first land-based aircraft to land on Lord Howe Island was Harry Newton's tiny Ercoupe in 1947. Harry had flown the aircraft all the way from Belgium on his way home to New Zealand. This Ercoupe, presently under rebuild in Auckland, was described in CWD Vol. 1, #4.
Did anyone know that? Could that be a distance record for an Ercoupe? Happy Holidays. fdp -------------------------------------------------------------------- Fred Pierce (DNRC)- [EMAIL PROTECTED] Oracle/Sybase DBA Mid-Atlantic Aviation on the Web - http://www.avialantic.com ** Mid Atlantic Air Museum ** College Park Aviation Museum ** ---------------------------------------------------------------------
