I want to add something to the autogas STC that hasn't been mentioned yet.
The STC is not the complete story. With the STC paperwork you then go to
your
IA to have two 337 forms prepared. There is a seperate STC for the
airframe
and the engine because not all airframes have fuel systems which are known
to
work with autogas. My very agreeable IA charges $25 per 337 to do the
paperwork. Your results may vary.

A little story that may encourage you to make the change to autogas. A
cessna 150 from my field in Mass decided to fly down to NYC to see the
Statue
of Liberty one day. At low altitude over the river a valve chose to stick
on
one of the cylinders. The very accomodating ATC controller guided him
into a
landing at Lagardia. Then the disaster began. After rolling out on the
big
runway he was met by a truck from the port athority there to collect $250
landing fee. They found him a place to park but there was no mechanic on
the
field and no maintenance facility for little airplanes. He finally
persuaded
a mechanic from a field 20 miles away to come and change a cylinder. Now
when
the mechanic wants to be agreeable the valve guide can be reamed out
without
taking off the cylinder with about an hours work. When the mechanic isn't
quite so agreeable the cylinder can be changed at a somewhat higher price.
Now don't you suppose he wishes he were running on autogas which has a
very
much lower incidence of valve sticking?
