For those of you just joining us - last time our beloved restoration project delivered the face dropping surprise that the quaint yet surprisingly expensive little A-75 Continental which was purchased for our baby can sadly never be used in an Ercoupe.  "Nice conversation piece," said Linda, Spike's lovely and up til now remarkably understanding wife, without much enthusiasm.  Clearly, something had to be done.  Well it was decided after much gnashing of teeth, shifting of eyes and repeated application of (Spikes) head to the wall that an 0-200 would be the logical remedy to the situation.  Henceforth a plea goes out over the ether for a copy of an STC for the 0-200 conversion.  Anyone? Anyone?

But aside from that minor setback (ka-ching), things are moving along quite swimmingly.  A pair of old reasonably priced wings was discovered within believable driving distance (400 miles each way) and we're hoping to secure them for spare parts within the near future.  (If you'll remember, last week our AME made the grim discovery of significant corrosion (ka-ching ka-ching) on several leading edge ribs and a wing tip on one of the wings.)

Oh and you may be interested to know that on the "parts plane" there was discovered a cracked weld where the oleo is attached to the trailing link on one of the main gear legs.  This area is a point of obvious high stress and it probably wouldn't hurt to have a close look at yours just in case...

Back to our story.  Will some understanding soul find it in his heart to share his STC?  Will Spike then be able to assemble enough pieces to build the elusive 0-200?  Will they ever unload that A-75?  Will Linda see the credit card balance and precipitate an untimely end to this story?  Tune in next time for the continuing saga of the restoration of C-FJGW...
