Do both, fly as much as you can in yours to build time. Use it for xcntry's, pattern work, every thing you can, but there are limitations. If you get a stock Coupe you might not be able to take your test in it. Check with the Flight Examiner to see if he will permit it. You need to perform a slip as part of the requirement with the new reg's. It's It's tough with no rudder pedals! In addition you should be proficient at using all the things like flaps, rudders, mixture controls etc. etc.. Ercoupe are allot of fun, I hope you get one.

    Subject: To buy now?

    Greetings,

I am a student pilot training in a Kitana who has fallen in love with the
Ercoupe and plan to make it my bird to fly, but my question is: Do I learn to
fly in the Kitana or should I look to purchase the Ercoupe now and learn to
    fly in it?

    Any thoughts would be appreciated
