First, I say many thanks to all the coupers who responded immediately to
my
plea for help re the FAA denying my airman medical certificate. The
coupers members are a great group! I hope I don't miss anyone, but I want
to respond to each:

WAYNE HANNAH sent his best wishes. His brother, like me, had polio in
1943-44. His brother has experienced post-polio syndrome, but so
far I
haven't.

ED BURKHEAD: said EAA medical people saved his medical 12 years ago and
helpful now as he's getting his medical with diabetes.

JANA QUINN

SYDNEY B. COHEN: recommended getting AOPA help.

HARRY FRANCIS

JOE NIKKEM

JACK LEWIS: I don't know about the group in Northern Florida that "flies
coupes for wheelchair pilots." Please do check and let me know
anything
you find out. and yes, do ask thev local guy you referred to if he'd be
interested in putting a door in a coupe- assuming I get the
medical. Where
are you, Jack?

KIM (KUKF) said FAA gets 3000 pieces of mail a day and related his
unpleasant experience with the FAA in Ok City. He recommended AOPA
but
being prepared to "spend a lot of time twisting in the wind while they
(FAA) get around to you"

PERCY in Portland: You referred to having a "special issuance" medical.
I'm curious about your condition that required the special issuance.

WILLIAM LATTANZE: Said if FAA rejects me I can still fly ultralights.
Yes,
I'm aware of that. You refer to "motorgliders" that are
indistinguishable
from "normal" planes that fit under rules for experimental aircraft

Actions I've taken:

--faxed correspondence and medical reports to AOPA
--will fax same material to a cardiologist who is an EAA pilot advocate in
Maryland; also talked to an EAA doctor who's a pilot advocate (not a
cardiologist) who wasn't encouraging
--sent same material to an A.M.E. in Uniontown, PA
