To refresh coupers membership, I'm a 65-year-old wheelchair user (polio in 1944) who got a private license in 1966 with 95 hours in an Ercoupe. I've been trying to renew my third class.
Today I received from the FAA in Oklahoma City a denial of my application for an airman medical certificate "due to possible coronary artery disease as evidenced by abnormal radionuclide testing." This is a condition I've had for years with no symptoms. Recently I started taking a medication and the situation is well controlled. Needless to say, I'm devastated. And I'm so surprised! I have 30 days to appeal for reconsideration pursuant to 14 CFR 67.409. I will certainly do so. But I need advice from anyone as to how best to do this. I'll provide the FAA correspondence and results of the medical tests to anyone. Who's had experience in situations like this and knows how best to make the appeal?
