Don--
An A & P mechanic can weigh and sign off a new weight and balance.
Replacing a flat windshield is no big problem. Remove the old one
by
removing all of the #6-32 screws and nuts around the top and sides,
remove the rubber gasket from the bottom, place it on the new windshield
if it is in good shape or replace it also if necessary, slide the new
windshield up and back, a little at a time, making sure you have enough
edge distance on each of the #6 screw holes, drill each hole with a 5/32
drill bit THAT HAS BEEN GROUND SO THERE IS NO RAKE ON THE CUTTING EDGE.
This will keep the bit from splitting out the Plexiglas. Experiment by
drilling holes in some scrap Plexiglas. Start drilling from the top
middle hole and put a screw in the hole and tighten it up so the next
hole can be drilled. Make sure you don't enlarge the holes in the
aluminum. Work your way down one side, then down the other side,
placing screws in each hole right after you drill them. Watch the
bottom edge as you go so it doesn't start lifting up from the fuselage
skin. Good Luck.Syd Cohen NC94196
