Dave,
As you know I am familar, with the alon you bought.

It has always bug me why that plane, had two different paint jobs on
the wings, as it didn't when the last owner bought it.

That plane for years was at the Half Moon Bay, Ca. airport for a
number of years. remind me not to have mechanical problems if we ever
fly into to there.

That is also the airport that the flight instructor, father and young
7 year old girl lost their lifes from in the cross country out of Wyo.
a couple of years ago.

The motor, should not of had any problems with the mounts and the
like, as that plane is one of about 150 that was in the gas mixup at
the Watsonville, fly in back in 95 or 96. the gas company was
responsible for rebuilding and changing the engines. several of the
Air coupes, got new engines, several of those pilots involved in that
will be at Columbia, this week end.

Our mechianic, is like yours it meets the specs or you do not fly the
plane , he is very one sided about that. but I had drather see him
that way then have a emergency in the air.

I have turned in mechanics for doing half work that we paid for on
99893 at the time we purchase it. for it was my husbands life and
might say I took firm exceptions, to him taking off from Lakeport ,
after the plane was to of had a total anual. He was over Tracy, and
had a shoe full of gas. he radioed to bring her in there but no one
was on the radio , so he turn off his electric and flew her into
Salinas,

One of the gas lines had a hole in it, that didn't apear there all of
a sudden.

The mechanic, when informed of this was only interested in one thing.
and said "I hope you didn't call the FAA. that would get me into
trouble."

I thought about that and it dawn on us that if that plane had caught
fire while in the air it would of been pilot error and did just that
called the FAA.
