The latest in the high oil-temp and consumption story:

After consultation with a friend at a local shop that does a lot of engine
work (they recently did the AOPA Tri-Pacer...twice.) and talking to a
couple of other mechanics about the condition of these cylinders, we have
decided to go with a new set of Milleniums.

The decision was partly based on the fact that we only need three, since
there is already one nearly-new Millenium cylinder on this thing,
installed
by the previous owner. That always bothered me, it was like having a car
with three old tires and one new one.

So, they are on order, and in the meantime I'll be taking the rockers over
the machine shop.

Apparently, the Millenium cylinders are complete, except for the piston
pin
and rockers. Pistons and rings are included. All I have to do is
double-check the ring gaps and bolt them on. Of course, I won't be able
to
afford to fly it afterward, but what the hey.
