Yo, Jack.
You are correct about the "gap" between the aeleron and the wing. But
sealing off has two problems:
* What to attach to
* Avoiding the moving part
The `coupe is one of only a few aircraft that have wings covered one
way, aelerons another. Attacking problem the first. IF you rivet to
the bottom surface a strip, ala the Cessna 150 has, you're going through
fabric. Don't know how/if the hole effects cloth in so far as tearing.
Metalized wing does not have this problem.
Problem the second dictates that said strip will not contact the other
part, like hitting the aerleron if attached to the wing. This has to
apply
under the wind load of flying! It could look good on the gound, but wear
really fast - like real bad news when you found out.
On Ultralights, I have seen the gaps sealed with cloth that fitted in
between the surfaces. I think I even saw 100-MPH tape used once. You
have to remove the tape before annual inspection. Also before you crash
`cause the insurance companies get miffed `bout paying off ...
Lotsa luck - Percy
