I have a '65 Alon with a bad 35amp generator--too bad to repair. So I
decided to put on a 60amp
alternator. The EOC club has a 337 for installing one on the Ercoupe, but
not the Alon. Any Alon
owners have a 337 on installin the alternator?

To make matters worse, on get the alternator and attempting to install it,
we found that the
radio-interference capacitor connector on the left mag interfers with the
installation of the
alternator. Choices: return the alternator and get a generator (guess
they are available), or
replace the Bendix mags with Slick mags. My Bendix mags were overhauled
almost 10 yrs and 500
hours ago, with 1 or more AD's since to replace the coil, etc. Two
different AP's have
recommended switching from the old Bendix to the new 4301 Slick mags.
Apparently this is common
for the Ercoupes (?), but I think I will also need a 337 for the Slick
mags on the Alon. Anyone
got one of them? Any help or comments would be appreciated. Thanks.
