Call your local FSDO, the FAA office. Ask to speak to an airworthiness
inspector. I believe that you can just go to the FSDO and exchange the
old one for a new one, but call them first to find out.

My Air Worthiness Certificate is old, faded, and overall almost
unreadable.

How do I get a new copy for display, as required?
