We had an Ercoupe Owners Club National Convention preparation meeting today.
Mostly, we filled in registration packets with stuff and put tickets into envelopes. There have been about a hundred reservations sent in already. We did talk some about what we'd be doing to host the National. Several people are going to Jacksonville early. Some Monday, others Tuesday, I'll go Wednesday morning. We'll prepare parking and be ready to shuttle people around. Though the official list of events starts Thursday, the prime event (talking about flying and Coupes) will start early. This will be a low-budget National. Low cost motels or college rooms or even free camping. The airport is relatively free of obstructions. However, be aware that the grass runway has been closed because they had dug a trench across it near the paved runway to run something under the grass runway. There may be a noticable bump there since the fill dirt has settled somewhat. Be alert for this if you choose to use the grass runway. At this point, the airport manager said he thinks the grass runway will be open but you'd better ask on the unicom before using it. Hope many of you can come. -- Ed Burkhead East Peoria, Ill.
