There are lots of one-time STCs. I just saw the best mounting I've ever seen (out of many.) John Wright Jr.'s plane has the shoulder harness mounted on the window sill stiffener near its aft end, about a foot behind the window. This gave about a 25 degree angle to the harness, but it looked like it would survive pretty much any crash without giving way. It would be supported by both the stiffener and the fuselage skin. John told me that club president Don Stretch (owner of Airtex) had this installation when his plane mushed into the trees, was totally dismanteled and lost its tail cone. The passenger compartment, said John Sr., stayed together and the harness attachment held. Don was not badly too badly injured. -- Ed Burkhead East Peoria, Ill. N3802H, 415-D
