olddaniel quoted from an old Skyport newsletter about how to convert Coupes up to handle 1400 lbs gross weight. I suspect that there's no STC available to do what this says and that you would have to convert any earlier model to the D to get the 1400 lbs gross, then install the split elevator.
>From what I've seen, I think the split elevator is one of the best modifications there is for a Coupe. >> "SPLIT ELEVATOR INSTALLATION >> >> The split elevator can be installed on the model 415-C, CD, and 415-D >> without other modifications to increase the gross weight in accordance with >> the SKYPORT AIRCOUPE SERVICES Service Letter." > > Does this mean you only need the split elevator - I have only seen a couple > of them - without the ss skin, placards, orifice enlargement etc. to legally > increase Gross Weight to 1400 lbs.? I don't have the SKYPORT Service Letter > referred to - can anyone out there quote it? -- Ed Burkhead East Peoria, Ill. N3802H, 415-D
