Jack Lewis: My info comes from the April '98 Coupe Capers, the benefit of belonging to the Ercoupe Owners Club (EOC). Although maligned by several and probably for valid reasons, the EOC is run by Skip Carden of North Carolina. You can join for $25/yr by writing to Carolyn Carden, 7263 Schooners Ct., SW A-2; Ocean Isle Beach, NC 28469-5644. Other than joining and getting the Coupe Capers newsletter, I have had no contact with the organization. Its certainly worth joining for us newcomers, although this online forum has been more beneficial to me.
The EOC convention is being held in Jacksonville, Il on June 4 - 6, '98. There are a variety of activities; e.g., Bus trip to Springfield to see Aba Lincoln's home on Thur; Picnic dinner at airport on Thur; tour of New Salem, Ill, a 19th community representing lifestyles of the 1830's on Fri; Dinner on the field Fri night; and a banquet at the holiday inn on Sat. All of these events cost money ($5-14), plus $20 registration for pilot and $10 reg for co-pilot (before May 22) otherwise add $5. Money refunded if you don't show up. Hotels include holiday inn, $54, 800-445-1659; Amerihost, $56, 800-434-5800; Motel 6, $29-$36, 800-4MOTEL6; Super 8, $50, 800- 800-8000. Free camping on field, no showers; small Fly-Market on field; pool party at Holiday Inn on Thur; EAA Chapter 770 Pancakes on Sat & Sun Mornings $3.50. Send reg to John & Kathie Wright, Jr., 5813 Old Jacksonville Rd., Springfield, Il 62707. The Springfield, MO group is going up just for Sat. Leaving early for Morning arrival, overnight and return on Sun. Will do $14 banquet on Sat night. A good opportunity to meet many of the people on this forum. Hope to see you there.
