Kim, I have, but have not yet installed, the El-Reno filter, and my instructions say that removal of the screen is optional, but doesn't say anything about checking the screen at oil changes if you leave it in. I had decided to remove the old one for the very reason you gave. The reason for installing the spin on is to avoid having to mess with the screen; and it only makes sense that the screen will eventually get plugged up if left in and not checked. Thanks for the verification.
Olddaniel, etc: Ok, I read the very next msg from Mr. Rosenfeld and see that my msg was too late. Still, maybe Olddaniel will fill us in on his particulars--or did I already miss that too.
