Back when the Ercoupe was first certified, the check out, solo, and
private
liscense time  time was reduced for "cooridinated control" aircraft, but
with
a limitation of the liscense.

This limitation was later dropped, I believe - just don't remember when.
To
keep sharp and current in all airplanes, I believe it is good practice to
take
check rides in a C-150 / PA-140, etc, just to keep the old noggin awake on
what is required to slip and stall, and recovery from entry to a spin,
etc.

However, I don't believe there is any "legal" requirement to fly 3 control
airplanes for a checkride.
