I have an Alon, SN 11, which I have only had since late 97. I haven't
tried sliding open the canopy yet, but I've been trying to figure a way to

peg it open at about 3-4 inches and again at just past 1/2 way. Has anyone

seen this done? Another Alon owner said the back tips of his canopy flex
and make a hellava racket when his canopy is all the way back. Scared him

greatly the first time and he doesn't do it anymore.

I find my Alon doesn't slip very well. Maybe I expect too much because I
learned in a 150 which would slip and drop like a rock but flatten out
once
the slip was corrected. It still amazes me that the sink rate can seem so

fast on one approach and on the next I float high and far like an old
taylorcraft. (maybe my speed isn't consistent!) I have yet to try a
decent cross wind without relying on the rudders.
