My mechanic told me today that the Eisemann magnetos on my 1947 415-CD have bought the farm. He also says that parts for these are no longer available and that I will need to upgrade to Slick mags. But he says his people are telling him that to change to the Slick's will cost over $1,400.00. This seems excessive to me as this accounts for 1/10th of the value of the whole airplane. Can anyone offer any information on this, as to where I can have the mags rebuilt or where I can obtain new Slick mags at a more reasonable price. I understand that the Slick's come with a harness to attach to the engine. This is probably an old subject for some owners but has just came up for me. Any leads or information would be greatly appreciated.
