My AH takes to spinning out of control...sometimes clockwise...sometimes counter clockwise. Are you trying to tell me I can do without it? I have no turn & bank or turn coordinator. And the DG in my coupe is suspect... I may do this too! Any other comments out there? >Anyone out there know of anyone who removed the metal from the wings and >went back to fabric? This little operation was done on my coupe 22 years ago...before I bought it. When I bought it, I didn't like the fabric job, it was 20 years old, and the Holy Swiss Cheese AD needed to be done. Off came the fabric and I'm almost finished putting new on...doing Stitts Poly. An aside: I have also taken off the big fiberglass wheel pants to save more weight. The added weight eats up any added airspeed, and the net result is just pretty...and I think a coupe looks just as good without the wheel pants! Back to taking the metal off of the wings. I'd do it...fabric wings are so much lighter...and easy to do. Just be careful drilling out the rivets. My ribs have so many holes it's hard to tell which ones get the screws to hold down the fabric. I measured someone elses coupe to get the screw placement. Some of those holes were drilled oversize for rivets, so you will need to use oversize screws to hold down the fabric.
