Jerry wanted to know about an Aux Fuel Pump for the Ercoupe. Actually
his original story got me thinking about why, as a low wing aircraft,
the Ercoupe ever got by without one. I guess because there is a header
tank, and at least *some* fuel fed by gravity, they figured it was
okay.

Someone used to have a great story out on the web about the 'ferry
flight from hell' in an Ercoupe. The young pilot first had to bring
a neglected Ercoupe to his FBO employer to be put right mechanically.
Then he was supposed to ferry it to the upholstry shop and back.

Which latter shop managed to turn off... ...and upholster over...
the switch that turned on the electric fuel pump which in his
particular specimen was supposed to transfer fuel from the wings
to the header tank. Out of sight, out of mind, at least until the
forced-landing was imminent.

Alas, I can't locat the URL. The horrible misadventure is truly
an entertaining one, as this was only one of several disasters
which befell the hapless young man.
