Folks, This is a wonderful piece of writing that expresses thanks to our veterans in a very special way. All our veterans are wonderful, but my special favorites are WWII pilots, both the men and the WASPS and WACS. I seek them out. Unfortunately they are fast disappearing. Some don't want to talk about the war as it is understandably too painful. But if you can get them talking about the planes- what a treat and what a treasure. I don't see them as "old people". I see them like some of the folks in other cultures see their long lived wise citizens. For example, the serene Zen or martial arts master or maybe as many of our Native American communities view their elders. When I was fortunate enough to get a ride with WWII Navy Pilot and T-6 owner, Lee, I was awestruck, just awestruck. His plane is impressive but he is even more impressive. 83 and still flying almost every Saturday. I couldn't get him to talk to me very much, but then he didn't have to. Having the honor of being able to ride with him in his plane told me everthing I needed to know. Spook PS Sorry to say I don't have much to offer you vets, WWII and all the others, except my gratitude and an always willing ear. __________________________________________________ To unsubscribe from this list please send mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ____________________________________________________________ T O P I C A -- Learn More.
