Yes, I fully understand the A/W certificate. And that is no problem. That come with no surprise. See in buying this >airplane< It is one of only of 52 built. And to a true lover of the Alon worth saving. The chain of events that needs to take place to get a data plate issued by Univair is. Simple a letter from the FAA. And a payment of I think it was $25. Not a big deal other that now the FAA thinks that the A/C was destroyed. I dabbled with the thought of buying a rebuilder. The insurance company usually de-registers the plane, turning in the airworthiness certificate. Once you've got it back together, you apply and get another (with the inspections, of course). The dataplate is the plane and it should not have been turned in if someone insured the wreck. I'm not sure if it can be retrieved, but I think you've got only a pile of parts. It can be registered again, but it sure would be nice to have the plate. I'd walk unless the deal was real good and you could get hold of another plate and logs! Good Luck!
