Several years back, a Air Force C-5B was taking off from DOVER AFB loaded and ran into a flock of geese that were spooked. They digested two in the outboard engines on the left wing. This was at 700 ft! Those geese trashed those two engines out. The pilot nursed it around with the remaining two and landed without any further damage. Needless to say that big C-5 at 700 ft over town scared the crap out of a lot of people! now the military patrols the area off the end of the runway with shotguns and dogs to scare them off. In another incident with geese, a pilot from our airfield took off at night when there were geese on the runway. He caught one in the prop and the cowl. Fortunately he chopped the power and got on the brakes before it was airborne. damage came to $9,600.00 bucks. They are a real hazzard. Don't take this warning lightly.
