Jimi, My Coupe does fairly well with a very flat climb prop. Mine was re-pitched to be 7146. A normal climb prop is 7148. This prop is a McCauly 1B90CM which is allowed by the type certificate Aircraft Specification A-787. (propellers and accessories section, paragraph 4) With this prop, I get the max allowed static runup rpm of 2225. This gives me more climb than most Coupes and a shorter take-off run. The cost is that my cruise speed at 2400 rpm is only 100 mph. I can cruise faster if I let it spin faster which I do sometimes since the flat prop is NOT straining the engine at high rpms. I've had it this way for the last 18 years or so and kind of like the combination. Going 100 mph instead of 104 or 108 isn't quite as satisfying but it's still gotten me to the Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, the Canadian border and the Gulf of Mexico. __________________________ What I'd like would be for someone to do the work to STC a VARIABLE pitch prop so you and I can have our climb performance and still have the better cruise performance. __________________________ An alternative would be to get an O-200 engine. With the STC specified propeller, the extra horsepower goes almost entirely into extra climb with max speed of around 108 mph. Something to consider if you can find a market for your C-75 or C-85 and can find a good O-200 to put on your plane. Good luck and keep in touch with us all.
