Hi Craig and everyone,
Here's a little information on my Video-Scope that Ed is talking
about.
While rebuilding my Coupe,
and complying with the wing A.D., and finding small bumps on the wing spar
indicating intergranular
corrosion was present, we realized that those bumps would not have been
seen
using the flashlight and
mirror system that most mechanics use to check for corrosion through the
holes specified in the A.D.
After three years of product development we are now building and marketing
a
tool that consists of a
tiny color video camera which has it's own light source and is mounted on
a
telescoping handle which
can extend from 18" to 48", and has a fully articulating swivel link
between
the camera head and handle
which allows the camera to be pointed to any angle, even back at the user,
so the user can look at the
back side of a bulkhead or rib through a lightening hole. The image can
be
seen on a color TV and
recorded on a VCR for future comparisons. This tool also can be used for
pre-purchase inspections,
when the seller is located in one part of the country and the potential
buyer is located somewhere
else. Our web page can be found at http://www.video-access.com/. You can
see some of the corrosion we
found in several Ercoupes and Forneys, and also loose rib-attach nails in
a
Bellanca Scout.
I encourage everyone on the list to check out our web site. I hope
this
answers your questions.
