Another area for corrosion that's frequently overlooked is the rear or false spar. On both the wings I just recovered I found corrosion that necessitated taking the stiffener off and cleaning the corrosion out, treating it, then riveting it back together. In addition, the interior of the ailerons can be real scary. I replaced the inboard aluminum stiffener where the aileron push rod attaches on both ailerons. The steel piece that the push rod is bolted to will trap mud inside it and rust from the inside out. It is bell shaped and the pushrod itself hides the crap that builds up. I wound up opening both ailerons up and fixing the corrosion. You can't see the interior without taking the push rod loose and looking inside with a bore scope. Cheers: Paul N2273H PS if it doesn't pour, and if my I.A. can make, it I'll have my recovered wings mounted this Saturday. <G> __________________________________________________ To unsubscribe from this list please send mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ==^================================================================ EASY UNSUBSCRIBE click here: http://topica.com/u/?aVxiLm.aVzvvT Or send an email To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] This email was sent to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] T O P I C A -- Learn More.
